3Hacettepe Üniversitesi, Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı, Ankara Coexistence of arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and pituitary adenoma is rare and only a few cases have been presented in the English literature. Herein, a 57 year old male patient was reported with arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and pituitary adenoma. The patient presented with sudden severe headache and subarachnoid hemorrhage was detected in the computerized tomography with a sellar lesion. The initial diagnosis was pituitary apoplexy. However, brain magnetic resonance imaging showed a right frontal AVM with the pituitary adenoma and the source of the bleeding was the AVM confirmed in conventional angiography. The priority of treatment approach was the AVM, which was embolized, and 4 days later, pituitary adenoma was resected. The diagnosis and management of a subarachnoid hemorrhage in a patient who harbor both AVM and pituitary adenoma are presented and discussed.
