METHOD: In this study, findings and results of three cerebral aneurysm cases treated in our clinic between 2005-2007 are compared with literature findings and general features of intracranial aneurysm disease are reviewed.
DISCUSSION: If the clinical features of childhood intracranial aneurysms are reviewed these are observed; Trauma, infection and many of the acquired or congenital pathologies play a role in development of aneurysms in childhood, aneurysms are more common in boys, they mostly originate from bifurcation of the internal carotid artery and posterior circulation aneurysms are more common than in adults. In therapautic approaches, conservative and/or endovascular methods are more frequently preferred and general clinical results are better than adult counterparts.
CONCLUSION: Childhood intracranial aneurysm disease shows very distinct feaures in epidemiologic, clinical and therapeutic basis from adults. Awareness of these features by physicians who are dealing with this problem will help to have better results.
