Penetrating-cutting insults to the spinal cord are generally caused by various items including knives, scissors, bayonets, ice-breakers, and shattered metallic fragments and 7-26% of these injuries are caused by knives solely. Overall, penetrating-cutting injuries of spinal cord are very seldom and these injuries may lead to the direct damage in the neural elements of the cord as well as cord infacts and less frequently intradural or epidural hematomas. Clinical picture may be manifested by the findings of the severity of the cord, roots, or cauda equina syndrome. In this report, we discussed 2 patients with penetrating-cutting spinal cord injury; one of them injured in cervical spine with Brown-Sequard syndrome and the other is injured in lumbar spine with no obvious neurological deficit.
