MATERIAL and METHODS: 308 patients complianing headache are revealed with radiological examinations. The patients needed neurosurgical intervention were excluded. The rest was examined as benign intracranial pathologies.
RESULTS: With detemined indications, 17 mega cisterna magna (% 5.44), 8 empty sella (2.56%), 8 choroid plexus cyst (2.56%), 4 Arnold-Chiari malformation type 1 (% 1.6), 3 pieces of agenesis of the corpus callosum (0.96%), 2 ventricular colloid cyst (0.64%), 2 pineal cysts (0.64%) were detected. Only 4% of these patients had neurological symptoms.
CONCLUSION: Revealing the patients complaining headache with appropriate indications is important for patient and also for physician with the legal responsibility. Neurosurgeons should improve their awareness about these benign pathologies. The importance of them should be exhibited with prospective studies.
