1Özel Koru Hastanesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Kliniği, Ankara, Türkiye2Sincan Lokman Hekim Hastanesi, Nöroşirürji Kliniği, Ankara, Türkiye Spinal cord cavernous malformations were considered as rare lesions in the pre magnetic resonance imaging era, but after using magnetic resonance routinely, they are accepted as one of a well known the reason of myelopathy. Cavernous malformations account for about 5 to 12% of spinal cord vascular malformations and 3 to 5% of all spine and spinal cord lesions in surgical and autopsy series. They are most frequently located at the thoracic region. Onset of symptoms of spinal cord cavernous malformations usually falls into one of three patterns, acute onset, progressive and episodic. Acute onset neurological deficits usually are due to oozing from the lesion and perilesional edema. Magnetic resonance imaging is a procedure of choice. Treatment is surgical and aim of surgery should be always total excision. Anahtar Kelimeler : Cavernoma, Myelopathy, Spinal cord cavernous malformations, Surgery
