Intracranial foreign body can also be observed after an attempted infanticide act in the childhood. In an adult patient presenting with symptoms of headache and loss of balance, the neuroradiological examination revealed an intracranial foreign body in accordance with a sewing needle, with an adjacent cystic lesion and the dilation of the ventricles. During the surgical intervention, only the upper part of the foreign body could be extracted and the cyst was drained. The persistent postoperative hydrocephalus was treated with a ventriculoperitoneal shunt, upon which the patient recovered completely. Considering the nature and the localization of the foreign body, the case was discussed along with the relevant literature, taking the possibility of an attempted infanticide into account.
