A Rare Complication of Lumboperitoneal Shunt Surgery; Radiculopathy: A Case Report

Lumboperitoneal shunt is widely used in the treatment of pseudotumor cerebri, communicated hydrocephalus, brain and cerebrospinal
fluid (CSF) leakage. Although it has important superiorities in comparison to other shunts, complications such as infection, injuries of
intraabdominal organs, shunt blockage is seen. Radiculopathy is a complication that is rarely observed after lumboperitoneal shunt surgery. In
this article of ours, we presented a 67 years old female patient with the prediagnosis pseudotumor cerebri who underwent Iumboperitoneal
shunt placement cerebri six months ago and applied to our clinic with the complaints of left leg pain, numbness and swelling on her waist after
the operation in the 4th week. It has been discussed by the examination of the literatures regarding the necessary measures and methods for
the prevention of the complications of shunt dysfunction and radiculopathy that develop after lumboperitoneal shunt surgery.
