Locked-in Syndrome due to Basilar Artery Dolicosectasia

Locked-in syndrome is usually caused by infarction of ventral pons due to occlusion of basillar artery. Characteristic features are quadriplegia, cranial nerve palsies and mutism. Only vertical eye movements are spared.Locked-in syndrome due to an elongated basilar artery is a very rare condition. We present a case, who lapsed into locked-in state following hemiplegia. CT scan revealed dolicoectasia of basilar artery with an arteriosderotic caldfication.
