Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) has become more popular due to recent technical developments in endoscopic systems. We should choose ETV as a first option for appropriate hydrocephalus patients because the clinical symptoms resolve quickly after the operation, the patient is not shunt dependent, the complication rates are lower and the long term success rates are better than shunt surgeries.
