OBJECTIVE: Hydatid disease of the central nervous system constitues % 2-3 of all cases of hydatid cysts. Two hundred seventy-six Turkish case of intracranial hydatidosis have been published since 1960. Its location in the ventricular system is very rare.

METHODS: İn this article; A22 year-old man patient with hydatid cyst of third ventricle is presented. The literature is reviewed.

RESULTS: A 22 year-old man admitted with a 10 day history of illness. The patient symtoms and signs of headache, vomiting and somnolance. In the magnetic resonance cystic lesions of third ventricle was hipointens in T1- weighted and hiperintens in T2-weighted. By using microsurgery technique the lesion was removed completely.

CONCLUSION: İntracranial hydatid cysts are generally located in the serebral hemispheres. This infestation reported in rare locations such as the ventricular system, extradural, posterior fossa, pons, sella turcica, parasellar area and cavernous sinus. Cerebral hydatid cyst should be kept in mind for the differantial diagnosis intraventricular cystic lesions. Anahtar Kelimeler : Hydatid cyst, third ventricle, intracranial cyst
