Başkent Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, Adana, Türkiye Schwannomas are frequently seen tumors in neurosurgery practice. Despite their benign nature, they are typically located nearby critical structures. This dilemma creates a challenge in the treatment strategy. Despite the advances in microneurosurgery, Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKR) has become a treatment alternative due to its high tumor control and low morbidity rates in recent years. GKR is also a good alternative for residual tumors. This article reviews the current literature on the effectiveness of GKR for the treatment of intracranial schwannomas.
