Sütçü İmam Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye Neurenteric cysts occur due to failure of separation of neurectoderm from endoderm. Neurenteric cysts are rare congenital anomalies that may occur either alone or in the context of complex malformations. Neurenteric cysts mostly present in the cervical and thoracic region of the spinal canal and have only rarely been observed in the lumbar region. They are usually intraduralextramedullary lesions. Intramedullary neurenteric cysts of the spinal cord are rare lesions and usually occur in middle age and older.

We reported a case of a 16-year-old male that presented with progressive weakness in his legs. Magnetic resonance imaging showed an intramedullary cystic lesion in the lumbar region and a low-lying conus medullaris. The cyst was totally removed by surgery and the patient recovered well. Pathological examination revealed that the lesion was a typical neurenteric cyst. Anahtar Kelimeler : Neurenteric cyst, Intramedullary, Lumbar spine
