Erciyes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakultesi Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı. KAYSERİ Vertebral column and spinal cord injuries are relatively uncommon in children. The immature pediatric spine has several anatomical and biomechanical features that distinguish it from the mature spine. Accordingly, the frequency of injury type, the level of spine injury, and the incidence of neurological compromise vary with the age of the patient.

Identical anatomical lesions in infants, children and adults may require different therepeutic measures. Furthermore, the treatment of each patient must be individualized on the basis of the patient's age, neurogical examination, and level of injury.

In this article, a review of 35 surgically treated periatric cases of spinal injury is presented. No patient was made worse by treatment, patients with incomplete neurological dendts were partially imporved, and patients with a complete myelopathy had no evidence of significant recovery of function.

Our results based on surgically treated and followed up 35 pediatric indicate that early surgical interventions permits immediate return to maximal activity and minimize or prevent early and complications. Anahtar Kelimeler : Managemnt. pediatric spine, prognosis, spinal injury
