Craniosynostosis is a congenital condition characterized by a premature fusion of one or multiple head sutures. It has been implicated that the premature fusion leads to elevated levels of intracranial pressure causing delays in neuropsychological development. This health condition may also lead to elevated levels of family stress as parents care for their children. In this literature review, studies on neuropsychological development of children born with craniosynostosis, impact of having a child with craniosynostosis on family members and clinical implications will be discussed.
