Its incidence is nearly 10 times higher than expected by chance alone, suggesting that an underlying pathophysiological etiology determines the development of multiple aneurysms. Multiple aneurysms can be found either in the anterior or posterior circulation and their location varies. The outcome of patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage who have multiple aneurysms has been reported to be worse than those with a single aneurysm. In patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage with multiple aneurysms, correct identification of the ruptured aneurysm is critical since the ruptured aneurysm should be treated first and it is advisable that the treatment should proceed from proximal to distal on the parent artery. Aneurysm treatment should be performed at large-volume centers where both open microsurgical and endovascular treatment options are available.
