1Mersin Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi, Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı, Mersin, Türkiye Lumbar disc herniation is one of the most common clinical procedures we come across in daily neurosurgery practice. Microdiscectomy as a minimal invasive procedure is still the most effective method although there has not been a common consensus in the surgical treatment and indication. Many minimal invasive methods for lumbar disc herniation that shorten the time to discharge and accelerate the return to daily life have become available in the field of surgery with recent technological developments. However, microdiscectomy in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation, a condition that leads to significant loss of labor, is still continuing its importance as a gold standard and is commonly used as a surgical procedure. The classic microdiscectomy method and some surgical technical variations are highlighted in this paper. Anahtar Kelimeler : Lumbar disc herniation, Microdiscectomy, Sequestrectomy
