The benefits of spinal cord stimulation are scientifically proven. It is a preferred treatment method for many clinical conditions due to high patient satisfaction and cost-effectiveness in the long term. It has been used in the thoracal levels for more than 30 years. Cervical spinal cord stimulation has been used with increasing frequency in the last 10 years. The most frequent indications for cervical spinal cord stimulation are complex regional pain syndromes, failed neck surgery syndrome, pain due to brachial plexus injury and Raynaud syndrome. Although the basic principles are similar to thoracal spinal cord stimulation, there are some technical differences. Additionally, there is no large case series in the literature yet. Randomized controlled studies and larger series are needed to widen the usage of cervical spinal cord stimulation.
