Subependymal giant cell astrocytomas are considered developmental pathologies and are generally known as benign tumors. They may present with increased intracranial pressure and hydrocephalus as a result of growth in the ventricular region around foramen Monro. They may also be associated with tuberous sclerosis, an autosomal dominant inherited systemic disease. Classical neurosurgical surgical approaches and cerebrospinal fluid diversion techniques may be sufficient for their treatment. The follow-up after surgical treatment should be long-term, bearing in mind that tuberous sclerosis may be a component.
