Several etiological factors are reported such as sporadic reasons and genetic mutations. Brachycephalic cases are seen more commonly with various syndromes. They should therefore be evaluated by the Pediatric Genetic Diseases Department in the preoperative period. Various neurodevelopmental delays accompany these pathologies and early surgical intervention is recommended to prevent these problems. In the preoperative evaluation, a pediatric hematologist examination is mandatory. Surgical planning is performed on three-dimensional computerized tomography. The main aim of the surgery is to decrease the intracranial pressure and create enough volume for the brain parenchyma to grow. Appropriate surgical techniques provide successful results.
