1Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi, Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Kliniği, İstanbul, Türkiye Skull fractures are significant for their association with intracranial injuries, which are the leading cause of traumatic death and disability in childhood. The pediatric age group has differences compared to adults in terms of anatomical and physiological features. Pediatric skull fracture patterns are significantly correlated with demographics, mechanisms of injury, presence and type of concomitant injuries, need for surgical intervention and mortality. Although the need for operative intervention and overall mortality is low, these variables play a substantial role in the prognosis. Depending on the severity of the trauma, the location of the fracture, and the type of injury, it is important to use appropriate radiological imaging methods for the treatment of lesions and complications that may occur early or late.
