Cranioplasty surgery is the closure of cranium defects with appropriate material. Cranioplasty surgery is a surgery that has been used since ancient civilizations. Cranium defects occur after craniectomy due to traumatic displacement bone fractures, brain tumors, cerebral infarcts, brain edema, cranium tumors, and infections. Various materials are used in the repair of the cranium defect. In addition to the many factors in the preference of cranioplasty material, the age of the patient is also important. There are some differences in pediatric and adult patients in terms of the cranioplasty surgery methods, complications, etc. These differences determine the timing of the method of cranioplasty surgery. There are more factors that restrict cranioplasty surgery in patients in the pediatric age group than in adult patients. The most important factor restricting cranioplasty surgery in pediatric patients is the patient"s age. In addition, material preference directs the surgeon depending on the age of the patient.
