1İstanbul Üniversitesi-Cerrahpaşa, Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, İstanbul, Türkiye The microsurgical anatomy of midline structures has not yet been fully elucidated. Although the anterior part of the corpus callosum and the cortical areas of the septal region have been well described, their relationship with the underlying white matter fibers has necessitated the renewal of some definitions. Moreover, the overlapping of cortical and subcortical anatomical definitions with the functions of these regions makes this issue more unclear. On the other hand, these areas are important for epilepsy and functional surgery interventions, and therefore it is important to well describe the relationship between their microsurgical anatomy and functions. In this section, the microsurgical anatomy of the anterior part of the corpus callosum and the septal region is discussed.
