AIM: To introduce neurosurgery related parts of an Ottoman surgical treatise that was written by Ali Münşî of Bursa in the 18th century.

MATERIAL and METHODS: Chapters related to neurosurgery of this treatise were transcribed into the Latin alphabet and translated into contemporary Turkish.

RESULTS: The whole book and its neurosurgical sections in particular were written mainly under the effect of previous medical authors like Paracelsus and Hildanus. The author preferred common medical treatments for neurosurgical cases even in well-defined conditions which required obvious surgical intervention.

CONCLUSION: The traces of iatrochemy, which was a medical trend of those times and originated in the Europe, can be distinguished in this work. At the same time, the author frequently quoted physicians that were stern members of the humoral concept. The book can be accepted as evidence showing that the late Ottoman medicine was following European trends.
