Elazığ Fırat Üniversitesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, Elazığ, Türkiye Meningiomas which originate from outside the neuraxis are called primary extraneuraxial meningiomas. Primary intraosseous meningiomas are rare tumors seen in this group. Various etiological factors have been reported. Osteolysis, hyperosteosis or mixed composition can be seen in radiography of tumor tissue. In this study, we presented a case of the mixed type intraosseous meningioma with a literature review. Our patient had a history of trauma 30 years ago. A large radiolucent area was seen at the left parietooccipital area on the cranial roentgenogram. A mass which was spreading to the diploe at the parietooccipital region and causing reactionary thickening on adjacent duramater was found by brain computed tomograpy. The mass was completely remowed with adjacent duramater and a cranioplasty was performed in this area. No recurrence was detected during long-term follow-up. Meningiomas may rarely be located at the intraosseous diploic space. These tumors must be taken into consideration during the differential diagnosis of calvarial lesions.
