Nöroşirürji Kliniği, Ankara, Türkiye Mini-thoracotomy with anterior approach is combination of conventional thoracotomy with anterior approach and microsurgery technique. Minithoracotomy with anterior approach is also named mini-transthorasic approach (Mini-TTA). It is possible to reach to the vertebrae with 4-6 cm skin insicion via limited right side thoracotomy depend on level. To use the small skin insicion obtains to make thoracotomy with little trauma. This method ensures more safety dissection of anterior tissue and vertebral column with lighting and amplification of surgical area. Also it has some advantages such as short anesthesia and cosmetic benefit. The most important disadvantage of this method is that area which display with surgical microscope is limited to one or two segments. Mini-thoracotomy with anterior approach may perform for excision of herniated disc and malign tumor, decompression of spinal tumors, spondylitis and fracture without any serious problems.
