Ankara Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, Ankara, Türkiye Middle cerebral artery aneurysms are common among intracranial aneurysms. The anatomical knowledge and the treatment models in the past are very important for this pathology. Application of the surgical microscope should be considered as a milestone in the treatment of middle cerebral artery aneurysms and any other neurosurgical pathology. Nowadays with the appearance of alternative treatments such as endovascular treatment, new fields of controversy come into existence. In the present study, approaches to middle cerebral artery aneurysms are discussed on an historical and anatomical perspective and other controversial subjects of treatment modalities are discussed.
