Trigeminal neuralgia is an invalidating disease that disrupts patient’s quality of life and social activity when it becomes resistant to treatment. Microvascular decompression, percutaneous retrogasserian procedures and radiosurgery are current surgical treatment modalities in patients who are not responding to medical treatment. As these competing surgical strategies are successful in pain control with a similar rate of side eff ects, the choice of treatment method has become one of the most controversial topics of neurosurgery. Stereotactic radiosurgical treatment is a one of the most rapidly evolving, minimally invasive treatment of trigeminal neuralgia with a low complication rate. In this review we discuss the radiosurgical treatment method for trigeminal neuralgia and review the outcomes, targeting, and controversies. Anahtar Kelimeler : Radiosurgery, Trigeminal neuralgia
