There are also differences between the two age groups in terms of the pathophysiology of the diseases. Posterior circulation and the internal carotid artery bifurcation aneurysms are more common in children; also there is high incidence of giant, posttraumatic, and mycotic aneurysms in this age group. The success of microsurgical resection of arteriovenous malformations in children is better than in adults. Unlike adults, indirect anastomosis techniques are preferred in moyamoya patients. Vein of Galen malformation is a rare disease seen in pediatric patients and the life expectancy of patients has been prolonged in recent years. In this review, the main pediatric vascular pathologies and their treatments are summarized in the light of current literature.
