CERVICAL MYELOMENINGOCELE

Five cases of cervical myelomeningocele are reported in this paper. The cases had no motor deficits. Magnetic resonance images showed posteriorly tethered cervical spinal cord in all. Three patients had associated Chiari malformation and hydrocephalus and one patient had associated lomber Type I split cord malformation. Surgical treatment consisted of resection of the sac and un tethering of the cervical spinal cord with intradural exploration. The embryogenesis, clinical and radiological features, surgical treatment of these lesions are discussed with the relevant literature.
