Spontaneous Spinal Epidural Hematoma Occuring During Pregnancy: Case Report

Etiological factors are not clear. Coexistence with pregnancy is also extremely rare. There are 6 cases reported in the literature till now. All of these cases exhibited acute paraplegia. Early diagnosis and treatment are the main determinants affecting the prognosis of these patients. 31 year old woman was admitted with acute paraplegia and found to be suffering from SSEH. The patient was treated with surgical intervention. Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is a very rare lesion. The exact etiological factors of this situation is unclear. Trauma, AVM, vasculitides, coagulopathy and prolonged valvasva maneuver are the accused mechanisms. If SSEH occurs during the pregnancy changes at the pressures of the venous plexus is the most probable cause. Spinal MRG is the gold standard for diagnosis.
