MATERIAL and METHODS: Forty-one convexity meningioma cases operated in the GATA Neurosurgery Department between 2007 and 2010 were investigated retrospectively. Demographic properties of the cases, locations of tumors, surgical outcomes, recurrence rates, adjunctive treatment applications and histopathological results were evaluated.
RESULTS: The most common tumor location was the parietal lobe followed by temporal, frontal, frontoparietal, occipital, frontotemporal and parietooccipital regions. Histopathological evaluation revealed meningioma (WHO Grade I) as the most common diagnosis. Only one case with a diagnosis of atypical meningioma received radiation therapy postoperatively. No cases recurred.
CONCLUSION: Cerebral convexity meningiomas are quite common cases with relatively easy total resection and lower complication potential due to their superficial location.
