Symptomatic Cyst of the Cavum Vergae: Case Report
Sağlık Bakanlığı Ankara Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Nöroşirürji Kliniği, Cebeci-Ankara
Cavum Vergae cysts are developmental cysts of the midline of the brain. They
usually have no clinical manifestations. These cysts rarely enlarge and become
symptomatic causing significant neurological dysfunction. The treatment of
these lesions remains a controversial issue. In this report we present a case with
symptoms related directly to pressure effect from the cyst to the neighbouring
brain structures. The cysto-cisternal shunt was used via open surgery for our patient. Significant clinical and radiological improvement was achieved by this surgical method.
