Ankara Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Nöroşirürji Kliniği, Ankara, Türkiye A 49-year-old-woman was admitted to our clinic with complaints of headache, hoarseness and difficulty in swallowing, worsening in the last few weeks. Slight dysarthria, uvula and tongue deviation to the right, and loss of gag reflex were detected on her neurological examination. Cranial MRI revealed a solid mass lesion at the right half of the clivus, also extending partially to the left side and covering the right jugular foramen. The lesion was removed grossly as total during surgery. Immunohistochemical examination was reported as metastatic adenocarcinoma. Metastatic lesions of the skull base, with an incidence of 4%, are the most frequent cause of jugular foramen syndrome and usually arise at the last stage of systemic malignancies. In this report, we present a case of adenocarcinoma metastasis of the skull base emerging with the symptoms of jugular foramen syndrome and discuss the case in the light of the literature.
