1Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi, Meram Tıp Fakültesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, Konya, Türkiye The importance of cerebral venous anatomy and surgical strategies to minimize possible injuries to the cerebral venous system is better understood nowadays. The size of the cerebral veins and their connections to each other often involve variations. Therefore, there may be some difficulties in describing the normal anatomical pattern in the anatomical nomenclature and in using this information during surgery. Injuries of major cortical veins or subdural connecting veins can cause serious complications such as venous infarction, hemiplegia, coma and death. Therefore, it is very important to know the cerebral venous anatomy well and to clarify the connection between pathology and venous system anatomy with the help of neuroradiological investigations during the surgical planning stage in order to minimize venous injury. The aim of this review is to review the anatomy of the dural sinus system and summarize the techniques that can be used to repair sinus injuries that may occur during surgery.
