6. Cerrahi Kliniği, Ankara Numune Eğitim ve Arastirma Hastanesi In this report a case with sacral schwannoma was presented. The patient was a 36-year-old female with suprapubic and right lower abdominal pain. A tumor of 38 mm diameter was localized at the presacral area. The tumor was palpable at the digital rectal examination. It was also visualized by pelvic ultrasonography, computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. The tumor was excised through amedian lower abdominal incision. Estimated blood loss was 2500 ml especially from the presacral plexus. Postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged on the postoperative day 7. Histopathological evaluation confirmed the preoperative diagnosis. Presacral schwannoma is an extremely rare tumor. Transabdominal excision is a procedure that can be performed especially in large presacral tumor. Operative blood loss can be profuse due to presacral venous plexus. Total excision is the treatment with excellent prognosis. Debulking can be done if total excision is not accomplished.
