İstanbul Üniversitesi, Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi, Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı, İstanbul The incidence of peritumoral edema is 46-92% in different publications. Meningioma-related brain edema as well as the patient's clinical presentation play an important role in the postoperative course. Protecting vascular structures is very important in meningioma surgery. Both arterial and venous injuries result in a worse postroperative course in these mainly benign lesions. Antiedema treatment should be started with measures taken to decrease intracranial pressure in any patient with postoperative brain edema; decompressive craniotomy or craniectomy should be performed if progression occurs despite antiedema treatment.
